We’ve been quietly building something we’re genuinely excited about, and today it’s live: Parks, a new product on Honisto.
If you’re new here — Honisto is building the future of local commerce, one place to find the businesses and parks around you instead of juggling a dozen apps for your own town. We’re doing it the hard way: bootstrapped, no Silicon Valley, no Wall Street, building it piece by piece. Parks is the next piece.
Starting where we live
We began in Ohio, our home state. Right now there are more than 150 Ohio parks live to explore — and not just the big state parks, but the metro parks and local spots you actually go to on a Saturday. We’re rolling out state by state from here, and if you’re not in Ohio yet, you don’t have to wait: there’s a suggest a park button, and even just a name is enough to tell us someone wants it there. We’ll onboard it. (State-by-state is still the plan, though — we’d rather do it right than fast.)
Open any park and you’ll find exactly what you need before you go:
- Address and hours, so you’re not guessing.
- Amenities and events up top, at a glance.
- A description and photos to get a feel for the place.
- A link to the state’s official site when you want the full deep-dive.
Clean, honest, and out of your way.
The part we’re proudest of
This one started as a small idea and became our favorite feature. You know the drill with most maps: you tap “directions” to a park and get dropped at a pin in the middle of the green, then spend ten minutes circling for somewhere to leave your car. We fixed that. Because we take the time to onboard the real parking lots, tapping Get directions on a Honisto park routes you straight to an actual lot — and when there’s more than one, you pick which. You land right where you can pull in and start your day.
And to be clear, we’re not trying to replace Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze — use whatever you love to drive. We just hand your app the right destination and let it do the driving.
Made to be yours
Parks isn’t only something you read; it’s something you can add to. Snap photos, write a description, and if our team approves it, it goes up on the park with credit to you — community-built, but curated. And you can save any park to your favorites with a single tap, with none of the five-menu nonsense.
One thing you won’t find, though, is a star rating — and that’s deliberate. A park is just a park; how it made you feel doesn’t change what it is. Some people love the beach, some hate the sand, but it’s still a beach. We champion real reviews for businesses, because a business is accountable for a service you paid for — a park just is, and four out of five stars wouldn’t tell you much. What we’re not ruling out are comments: not “loved it / hated it,” but the genuinely useful kind, like “the north lot fills up by 9” or “the main trail floods after rain.” If that’s something you’d want, tell us — that’s how we build.
That’s Parks — one small piece of something bigger, built the way we build everything: carefully, on our own terms, for the people who’ll actually use it. It’s live across Ohio today, with more parks and more states landing all the time.
So get outside this weekend. Find somewhere you’ve never been. Your town’s bigger than you think.
Go find a park.
150+ Ohio parks are live right now — with directions that take you straight to the parking lot. More states are coming, and you can help us get there.
